EASTERN FRONT by Compass Games Who will seize the initiative... and who will be forced to react? The battle is about to begin in earnest. In this episode of Combat! Eastern Front, we look at one of the most important mechanics in the game: Initiative. In combat, acting first can mean the difference between taking the objective... or becoming the target. This episode explains how Initiative works, why it matters, and how it influences every decision that follows. Before the first shots are fired, both sides are already trying to gain the upper hand. Following my first experience with the Barbarossa scenario, I've decided to play my next mission using the Random Scenario Generator, one of the features that most excited me about Combat! Eastern Front. Together we'll discover whether it can create believable, challenging and memorable tactical battles. I'm learning the system as I play, so you'll see both my successes and my mistakes. If you're also learning Combat! Eastern Front, I hope these videos help you get the game to the table.
