I used Table Top Simulator for this game. There is also some voice lag... This video contains the complete scenario from start to finish and, importantly, it was also my very first game, with this updated GMT version. Rather than replaying the scenario after learning the rules, I decided to share the experience exactly as it happened. You'll see my thought process, the decisions I make, the rules I learn along the way, and, inevitably, a few mistakes as I become familiar with the system. Operation Starlight recreates the first major offensive by United States Marines against Viet Cong forces in August 1965. It provides an excellent introduction to the game's mechanics while capturing the challenges of planning and executing military operations during the Vietnam War. In this video 🎯 Learn the core mechanics of Vietnam 1965-1975 as I play my first game. 🎯 Follow the complete Operation Starlight scenario from beginning to end. 🎯 Watch American and Viet Cong forces manoeuvre for control of the battlefield. 🎯 Experience the tactical and operational decisions that make this game so engaging. One of the aspects I enjoyed most about Vietnam 1965-1975 is how it balances military operations with the uncertainty of intelligence, logistics and command decisions. Success isn't simply about overwhelming force. Careful planning, timing and flexibility are just as important, and the game does an excellent job of recreating those challenges. Aaron Plays is dedicated to historical wargames, board games and roleplaying games, featuring honest playthroughs, reviews and long-form campaign series. I believe the learning process is part of the enjoyment, so rather than editing out every mistake, I prefer to leave them in, explain them where necessary and improve as the series progresses. If you've played Vietnam 1965-1975, I'd love to hear how you approached Operation Starlight. Did your strategy differ from mine? Are there tactics or lessons you'd recommend for future scenarios? Let me know in the comments. If you enjoy historical board wargames, please consider liking, subscribing, and joining the discussion.
