Empire Under Siege Campaign: Game 3: Dwarfs vs Undead In this game an unholy host of the Undead meets up with some stout Dwarfs. Kieran played the Dwarfs and I must say he used a very unconventional deployment strategy. Instead of putting his three characters (he rolled two Runesmiths for his territories) in units he placed them on a small gun line. This caused no end of grief when my Zombie unit broke them.. Instead of cutting them down they kept running into single characters which had previously fled or failed to charge due to fear... This has me scratching my head on whether or not to add a small house rule to our campaign. If you pursue a unit, roll higher than their value should you cut them down even if you run into a fresh unit or single character? Should you be able to bypass the single character and charge it as you pursue? If you have any thoughts on this feel free to comment below. On the Undead side I was learning... My very first game of WFB I used Undead. But I have only used them maybe once or twice more since then. Mid game a unit of Dwarfs charged my Ghouls. So I fled thinking that would be the safest bet and also would let me line up my massive Skeleton ranks for a charge. Instead the ghouls rolled a 5, allowing the Dwarfs to catch and obliterate them. Here we go again, I thought... Also, I totally forgot to make break tests for Zombies which were beaten in combat. Instead I decided to graph the Skeleton rules where they would just lose an extra figure for each point lost in the combat... Despite these gaffs it was still a fun match. We are really proud of how our latest terrain piece (a mine or dungeon entrance on a rocky hill) turned out. We also were honoured to use my good friend, Dennis', Dwarf Army. I bought it off him a year or so ago and it literally has 15+ war machines, and hundreds of old Citadel metal figures. Dennis was the guy who introduced me to WFB and I am eternally grateful for meeting him almost 30 years ago... Where does time fly?
