Watch “THE GREAT WALL– Phoenix & Dragon Contrast Painting | Board Game Miniatures #lotusthalia #boardgame,” a board game video on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Lotus Thalia on YouTube:
In this miniature painting video, I continue my The Great Wall: Ancient Figures series by painting two colorful mythological miniatures: a phoenix-inspired creature and an ancient dragon guardian.
For the phoenix, I build a bright, fiery palette using Iyanden Yellow, Moon Yellow, Magmadroth Flame, and Baal Red. Layered colors and dry brushing help define the individual feathers, while Caribbean Ocean and Escarpone Green create the eye-pattern details on the tail. Balthasar Gold adds a metallic finish to the jewelry and decorative elements.
The second miniature is an ancient dragon guardian resting on a wooden structure. I use Snakebite Leather for the main body, Skeleton Horde for the lighter inner areas, and Reikland Fleshshade to define the scales and natural texture. A small amount of Green Camo is added at the end to give the aged skin a subtle green tone.
Both bases are completed with Mud & Grass Weathering Effect to create a natural, timeworn battlefield appearance.
Throughout the video, I share my complete contrast painting process, color choices, washes, dry-brushing steps, metallic details, and base decoration. This is a beginner-friendly approach for painters who want strong colors and visible depth without using complicated blending techniques.
All miniatures and painting materials shown in this video are personally owned by me. The complete painting process, filming, Turkish narration, English subtitles, editing, and final showcase were created by me for this channel.
If you enjoy The Great Wall board game, board game miniature painting, contrast paints, fantasy creatures, and detailed painting processes, I’d love for you to take a look!
