Watch “The Great Wall – Ancient Figures | Contrast Painting Board Game Miniatures #lotusthalia,” a board game video for The Great Wall on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Lotus Thalia on YouTube:
In this miniature painting video, I paint the Turtle and Tiger from The Great Wall: Ancient Figures expansion using contrast paints, washes, dry brushing, metallic colors, and weathering effects.
The Great Wall is a strategic board game set in ancient China, combining cooperation, resource management, and competition. The Ancient Figures expansion brings mythological creatures to the battlefield, including this serpent-wrapped turtle and powerful tiger warrior.
I begin with the turtle miniature, painting its shell with Snake Green and adding color transitions with Forest Sprite. Aethermatic Blue creates a cool contrast on the skin, while Shyish Purple separates the snake wrapped around the figure. Moon Yellow is used to make the eyes stand out before I finish the miniature with Nuln Oil, mud, grass, and weathering effects.
For the tiger, I use Apothecary White to define the fur, Enchanted Steel for the blades, Hardened Leather for the rope details, and Tainted Gold for the armor. Agrax Earthshade, Nuln Oil, and a Bone White dry brush add depth and bring back the texture of the fur.
This is a detailed but beginner-friendly approach to painting board game miniatures. Throughout the video, I explain my color choices, materials, contrast painting process, base decoration, and simple techniques for creating depth without overworking every surface.
All miniatures and painting materials shown in this video are personally owned by me. The complete painting process, filming, Turkish narration, English subtitles, editing, and final miniature showcase were created by me for this channel.
More miniatures from The Great Wall: Ancient Figures expansion will be coming in the next video.
