Description provided by Tabletop Toby on YouTube:
Episode 2 of "Board Game Fun Phase" - board game things that I am excited -- whether an upcoming game, a game I just received or played, a piece of news, or whatever is bringing me boardgame joy right now.
In Episode 2 -- How to Save a World -- A worker placement, bag building, deckbuilding, & resource management game where you and other scientists are trying to protect the planet, Alarria, that you have been researching on for 2 years. Now, I will repeatedly call this planet Earth in the video because apparently I want a game with the added intensity of the entire human civilization on the line. But nonetheless, the stakes are high because you have discovered countless amazing new species of animals and plants. So, you as a group come up with 3 options -- a laser, a shield, or load up as many of the species as you can into shuttles and run!
Manage your resources and make careful decisions about what cards to acquire to make sure you have optimal synergies for the tight gameplay to maximize your work on on the projects of your choosing. As you work on the projects, more of those projects cubes go into the project bag and increase the chances that will be the successful project at the end of the game. But there's an element of luck...and a dramatic moment at the end of the game where first the laser is attempted to be fired. Failing that, the shield is attempted to be put up. Failing that, the shuttle backup plan is put into place. Whoever invested the most in the winning plan gets more points, but investing in all of them is probably not a bad strategy given the element of luck. And...you probably want to look at some of those species card end goals or research point options to round out your game if you want to clinch that victory!
