Watch “Rallyman SHAKEDOWN: 14 - Climbing into The Unknown,” a gameplay video for Rallyman: DIRT from Matt Elliott on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Matt Elliott on YouTube:
In this Shakedown, we're going to push our dashboards to the limit as we tackle the many, many turns of an almighty hill climb.
The Climb expansion might not look like much on the surface, but its contents can bring a whole load of challenges and innovation to Rallyman. From ascents and descents to rules for a lack of oxygen or thick fog, there are components here that we can make use of in ways we haven't even thought of yet, including the concept of the unlimited dashboard.
And where else do you test out a custom built car that no doubt has more dice than it ought to? On the biggest hill climb of the lot, of course: Pikes Peak. I hope you've a head for heights...

Correction: Spotted by Guazzabu, waaay up the hill on the last climb tile (325a) I couldn't have put down that Gear 5 die to start the turn, as I was in Gear 5 at the time and need to put down a die one gear lower, so the turn would have started something like '4, 3, 2', or '4, Boost+Coast, 3', or even 'Boast+Coast, 4, 3', you get the idea.
Would I have still managed to beat Rod Millen's 1987 time of 12:04? I'm not too worried on this run - there's always run two and three to climb to the top of the timing screen...
SHAKEDOWN is a showcase of Rallyman and the community that makes it what it is. From variant rules to recreated race tracks, from serious strategy to silly situations to find yourself in, I want to highlight anything and everything that makes this game shine, much of it community created content.
There are many, many more things to show off in future Shakedowns, but what would you like to see the most? What aspect of Rallyman hasn't been explored enough? Which circuits are hidden gems? What rules do you insist others try out for themselves? Let me know, and be sure to spread the word about whatever great Rallyman content you find on your travels.
Files needed to recreate what you see in this Shakedown can be found on BoardGameGeek (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/312959/rallyman-dirt), and while you're there, why not hop into the forums to see how my second and third runs up the mountain went, as well as tell us what mad designs you've come up with for your own unlimited dashboards - or, perhaps more interestingly, what limitations have you applied to them?
