Watch “Rallyman SHAKEDOWN: 19 - Diverse Drivers,” a board game video for Rallyman: DIRT from Matt Elliott on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Matt Elliott on YouTube:
In this Shakedown, we're finally making use of the Driver Traits from DrWorm's NPC rules, where we hope to be able to emphasise their character.
We all want to race against the familiar faces of the various sporting disciplines we follow, and games not only allow us to do just that, but also tailor their skills to match the kind of difficulty we want to go up against.
But all too often, a superstar in a game just doesn't act like they do in real life, so racing against one particular NPC can quickly feel like racing against any other. They become a little lifeless, lacking in character, and this can be true of the Rallyman NPCs as well. Driver Traits change that.
I've been looking into how best to make use of Driver Traits, and I've come up with an idea that I like, but have no idea how you have made use of the NPC rules and Driver Traits yourselves, and so don't know which direction to take these drivers in going forward. That sounds like a perfect opportunity to open up the discussion...

Do note that this video might be harder to follow along with, as the race was a test of other rules as well, and so does not reflect the current state of the NPC rules.
SHAKEDOWN is a showcase of Rallyman and the community that makes it what it is. From variant rules to recreated race tracks, from serious strategy to silly situations to find yourself in, I want to highlight anything and everything that makes this game shine, much of it community created content.
There are many, many more things to show off in future Shakedowns, but what would you like to see the most? What aspect of Rallyman hasn't been explored enough? Which circuits are hidden gems? What rules do you insist others try out for themselves? Let me know, and be sure to spread the word about whatever great Rallyman content you find on your travels.
