TIPS OF THE TRADE #18: “X-FILES CCG: GEN CON ‘96 DEMO CARDS, PART 1” The X-Files Collectible Card Game (CCG) | 1996 | Beginner Tips | Deck-Building Card Games | Detective Games | Mystery Games | Customizable Card Games | Deck-Building Card Games | Trading Card Games (TCGs) | Dead CCGs | Gen Con ‘96 Demo Cards | Rare Cards | CCG Conventions | United States Playing Card Company | Mulder & Scully ——————————————————————————— SUMMARY Tips of the Trade is your X-Files CCG source that helps you refine your gameplay. The X-Files CCG debuted in August 1996 at GenCon in the MECCA (Milwaukee, WI) and attendees were given the chance to sample a 60-card demonstration deck. Most copies were destroyed following the convention, but a handful made it out into the wild, and today the set is highly sought after by X-Files CCG fans. See the many differences between the GenCon cards and their Premiere Edition equivalents, including “Scully’s Dream, Georgetown, MD”. This video is the first of two installments dedicated to the XFCCG GenCon demo deck and features Agents, Adversaries, Witnesses, and Sites. Created back in 1996, The X-Files Collectible Card Game derived its mechanics from the show’s earliest seasons before going belly-up in 1997. But like the elusive Truth, the game’s cult following is still Out There.
