Trade, negotiate, and expand your tribe in the desert! 🏜️✨
Welcome to Targi, the award-winning 2-player strategy game by Andreas Steiger, published by Kosmos.
Use your Targis to claim goods, trade with tribes, and build your influence before your opponent does.
🎯 Targi is a worker placement and set-collection game for 2 players, lasting about 45–60 minutes.
Each player controls a Tuareg tribe trading dates, salt, and pepper while developing tribal cards for points.
1️⃣ Setup:
- Create a 5×5 grid of cards:
- 16 Border Cards (fixed positions),
- 9 Inner Cards (5 Goods + 4 Tribe cards placed randomly).
- Place the Robber pawn on the top-left corner.
- Each player takes 3 Targi figures and 2 Tribe markers, plus starting goods:
- 4 Dates, 4 Salt, 4 Pepper, and 3 Gold.
2️⃣ On Your Turn:
Players take turns placing one Targi at a time on different Border Cards.
Restrictions:
- You cannot place on a Border Card occupied by the Robber or the opponent.
- When all Targis are placed (3 each), determine intersections:
- The 2 crossing points where your Targis’ rows and columns meet grant Inner Cards.
3️⃣ Resolving Actions:
After all placements, resolve your Border Cards in order of number (1–16).
Actions may include:
- Taking goods (dates, salt, pepper, gold).
- Trading goods for gold or victory points.
- Acquiring Tribe cards from intersections (pay their cost in goods).
4️⃣ Building Your Tribe:
- Each player can hold up to 3 Tribe cards in their display.
- When you buy a new one, add it to a 3×4 tableau.
- Completed rows or columns give bonus points.
5️⃣ Robber Movement:
After each round, move the Robber 1 step clockwise on the border.
He blocks that space next round.
After 16 rounds, the game ends.
6️⃣ Winning the Game:
Add up victory points from Tribe cards, bonuses, and leftover goods/gold.
The highest total wins!
💡 Tips & Strategy
- Prioritize intersections — they define your round’s power.
- Keep at least 1 Gold for emergencies.
- Watch the Robber’s position — plan two rounds ahead.
- Build combos with Tribe cards that reduce costs or add bonus points.
Targi is a tight, tactical duel in the desert — full of clever planning, timing, and resource balance.
A modern classic for strategy lovers! 🏜️🪙
