Near and Far Board Game Playthrough – Season 1, Episode 4 feat. Andy, Jackson, Kristen & Adam We're back in the wasteland — and this time, the desert is toxic. Near and Far is a beautifully illustrated adventure board game by Ryan Laukat where players quest across a shared map, build camps, collect treasures, and chase powerful artifacts while managing their resources and reputation. With the Amber expansion in play and character mode carrying over talents from the last session, this one rewards patience, planning, and knowing exactly when to go all-in on points. This session takes us to the Toxic Desert, where any water tile costs a heart to cross — which makes every movement decision feel just a little more painful. Andy, Jackson, Kristen, and Adam each came in with carried-over talents and a game plan. Jackson was riding a two-game winning streak and looking to make it three. Adam leaned into some dishonorable dueling at the mine early (at the cost of his reputation). Kristen worked her magic and kept her spell engine humming. But Andy? Andy quietly built an artifact strategy that nobody saw coming — and the final tally wasn't even close. With 86 points and the rest of the table less than half that, the artifacts really were the name of the game.
