Description provided by Homo Ludens on YouTube:

Join us in this interview with the ingenious Matilda Simonsson, the part-time Swedish board game designer behind 'Turncoats' and the soon-to-be-released 'Pax Penning'. With a profound appreciation for Cole Wehrle's works and a penchant for transcending the two-player norm of ancient abstract games, Matilda has carved a niche by weaving complex narratives into competitive gameplay. In 'Turncoats', players navigate a tense war between three factions, managing hidden loyalties while vying for power. Transitioning into the historical realm, 'Pax Penning' plunges players into the heart of nation-building amidst the fading embers of the Viking age. Our conversation traverses Matilda's design evolution from abstract to historically rich games, exploring the inspirations that fuel her creative process. The spotlight also shines on her experience managing the whirlwind of attention following the stellar review of 'Turncoats' by the revered board game channel "Shut Up & Sit Down". Discover the mind behind games that are not only an exercise in strategy but a dive into unfolding historical narratives. As Matilda shares her journey, insights, and a glimpse into her design ethos, it’s a tale of game design that is as engaging as the intricate scenarios she crafts on the board.
