Read my mini-review 👉 GANGSTER’S DILEMMA (2020) by Adrian Adamescu & Daryl Andrews, published by Eagle-Gryphon, is # 23 in the Eagle-Gryphon Bookshelf Series of #boardgames, and it’s the newest bookshelf #boardgame to enter my collection.
We have really enjoyed our plays of this so far. It’s quick & simple to learn with some hilarious moments of backstabbery when players decide to snitch on their friends 😂
It’s a simple simultaneous selection game where 1 player is the cop each round, while the rest of the players are the gangsters. Each player simultaneously chooses a location to loot, while the cop tries to guess which locations the opponents will visit. Each location offers some sort of item or action when you loot; plus, cash accumulates on the locations to make them more enticing at certain moments.
If the cop chooses the same location as 1 player, that player is arrested and the cop steals that player’s goods. Brutal!
If multiple players choose the same location but no cop is there, those players split the cash. But a player alone on a location with no cops gets ALL the cash!
The game gets super fun when the cop chooses the same location as multiple opponents. This is the “gangster’s dilemma.” The gangster players must each decide whether to stay silent, bribe the cop, or snitch on their opponents. There is risk in every choice, and the mind games are fun!
The game has beautiful components & eye-catching artwork by Kwanchai Moriya. It really pops on the table while fitting inside a small box.
This is a “beer & pretzels” game with a high fun factor. It’s not deep, but it’s perfect for a group of friends who want something light & fun for a casual #boardgamenight. Or you could use it as a warmup or cooldown game for a bigger game night.
Thanks to Eagle-Gryphon Games for the review copy! As always, these are my own words & opinions. Music “Downtown” by Liborio Conti used with permission.
