The Making of Warhammer | Part Four: Harnessing the Heroes

Description provided by Jordan Sorcery on YouTube:

Part four of the complete making of Warhammer Fantasy Battle - a series looking at the development and release of the greatest war game in tabletop history! Warhammer Fantasy was at the top of it's game, so the 5th edition didn't need to be a revolution, it could just be a refinement. And that served WFB well, but the world around it was changing fast and soon even Warhammer would need to evolve. Games Workshop would under go one of it's most traumatic releases with the failure of Gorkamorka, but critically acclaimed new releases like 40k 3rd edition and Mordheim would change the narrative. All the while the father of Warhammer, Rick Priestley, was wrapping up his time at the helm of his original creation. Things were good for Warhammer Fantasy, but how much longer would it last? _____________________________ Support My Work: DOWNLOAD MY FANTASY BATTLE SCENARIO DEAD KING WENCESLAS: https://jordansorcery.itch.io/dead-king-wenceslas ELEMENT GAMES AFFILIATE LINK: https://elementgames.co.uk/?d=11216 PATREON: https://www.patreon.com/jordansorcery KO-FI: https://ko-fi.com/jordansorcery INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/jordansorcery/ BLUESKY: https://bsky.app/profile/jordansorcery.bsky.social WEBSITE: https://jordansorcery.com/ DISCORD: My Discord is now open to exclusively to Patreon supporters & by invitation only #Warhammer #GamesWorkshop #CitadelMiniatures #Wargames #TableTopGames #RickPriestley _____________________________ Links & Sources: 1 [Lead Advisory Service Australia / White Dwarf 206] https://lead.org.au/lasn/lasn014.html 2 [Armorcast] https://www.belloflostsouls.net/2023/05/warhammer-40k-original-grimdark-titans-werent-forge-world.html 3 [There Will Be Games] https://therewillbe.games/articles-interviews/5621-games-workshop-and-the-board-game-wars 4 [Mud & Blood 40k Interview with Rick Priestley] https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/102-rick-priestley-interview-40k/id1395700359?i=1000530220660 5 [John Wombat Interview with Rick Priestley] https://johnwombat.wordpress.com/2020/04/01/the-wargaming-wizard-a-talk-with-rick-priestley-part-2/ 6 [White Dwarf 466] 7 [White Dwarf 202] 8 [Mira Manga Interview with Toumas Pirinen] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnzwrRNf5p8 9 [Mark Gibbons Reddit AMA] - https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer/comments/8ntleb/im_mark_gibbons_ask_me_anything 10 [Ropecon 2017 Toumas Pirinen Seminar] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hnfo-cegsG4&t=175s 11 [Ropecon 1996 Andy Chambers Q&A] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mw5NfJlRrcQ 12 [Give ‘Em Lead, Quest for Stillmania Interview] http://givemlead.blogspot.com/2016/07/quest-for-stillmania-interview-with.html 13 [White Dwarf 117] 14 [Citadel Journal 48] 15 [Goonhammer Gorkamorka] https://www.goonhammer.com/what-happened-to-gorkamorka-part-two-the-hulk/ 16 [John Wombat Interview with John Stallard] https://johnwombat.wordpress.com/2020/06/12/warlord-games-more-a-talk-with-john-stallard-part-2/ _____________________________ Art, Music, and Copyright: Images used belong to their respective copyright owners Thumbnail and Sigils by Hany.Kayal Jordan Sorcery Theme by Joylin Music Jordan Sorcery Coat of Arms and Theme copyright @jordansorcery

About Warhammer: The Game of Fantasy Battles (5th Edition), from BoardGameGeek:

This is the fifth edition of very popular Warhammer Fantasy Battles wargame, a colorful refinement of the fourth edition rules, in which heroes and magic still dominate over units and war machines. Warhammer Fantasy Battles is a tabletop game for two or more players where you command several armies from a huge range that goes from Humans, Dwarves, Elves, Undead, Orcs, Beastmen, Ratmen called Skaven, and other fantasy races. This starter set provides you with all the rules you need to play, a core for two armies, and guides you through collecting and painting your own army of Citadel miniatures. The boxed set contains a 112-page softback Rulebook, a 152-page softback Battle Book, plastic miniatures from the newly introduced Bretonnian (12 Knights of the Realm, 24 Peasant Bowmen) and Lizardmen (20 Saurus Warriors, 32 Skinks) armies. It also contains plastic dice and range rulers, as well as cardboard playsheets, buildings, templates, and magic cards - everything required to start playing.
