*EPISODE 82: Merchants, Missions, Maneuvers, Multi-Use Cards* features a full tutorial and review of Paolo Mori's second published game. Technically, this is the board game re-implementation of the original card game, but the design won the Gioco Inedito Award from Lucca Comics & Games back in 2006. Even so, there is virtually nothing about this game on the internet, which makes it a perfect fit for my channel. This is a very subtle positioning game where players try to move up in rank across various companies while also dictating when payouts will occur. It's tense, quick, and packs a punch into 45 minutes or less. This game is not for everyone, but if you spend some time with it and get to know its personality, you'll start to see some really cool elements! We played 7 times leading up to the video, and I still think about this game quite a bit. In fact, just typing this makes me want to play right now. It's kind of quirky, yet it's addictive because it's so quick to play and so tricky to time the payouts just right. You're always positioning and repositioning based on speculation and shared incentives, but ultimately you want to grab the cards you need while denying your opponents access to cards they need. Interesting stuff!
