You’re trying to give them an obvious dud while hiding the card that actually helps you — the same clever “I split, you choose” idea from Elizabeth Hargrave’s Tussie Mussie. Reach 15 points in a tower and you can grab a bonus ability, like seeing both cards your opponent offers you next turn. It’s a small box, it plays fast, and it’s genuinely tense in a “wait, what did they just hand me” kind of way.
