Watch “Miskatonic Expeditions 3D-Printed Insert & Print-and-Play Solutions,” a how-to-play guide for Miskatonic Expeditions on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Pecktec Games on YouTube:
In this video I walk through the 3D-printed insert and supporting solutions I designed for the print-and-play game Miskatonic Expeditions by Paper Tigers (currently crowdfunding on Gamefound). The insert not only stores the game but also includes custom thin plastic backings for the cards and components so everything is sturdy enough for regular play. I show:
The lid and overall box fit (with a quick tumble test)
How the clock, player powers/skills, characters, books, keys, rituals, rooms (organized by number of entrances), and tokens all fit
My process for mounting print-and-play pieces onto thin 3D-printed plastic backings (including the card-sleeves + slide-in method for the small cards)
Color-coding and dividers that make setup faster
Prototype notes, thickness adjustments (especially the thinner small-card version so they still slide under investigators), and extra space left for stretch-goal content
Tips on printing/testing the files, cutting with a paper cutter, and using Elmer’s Extreme glue stick
All the files will be shared on Thingiverse so you can print the insert and backings yourself. Keep in mind these are prototypes — I recommend printing a test piece of each component and measuring against your own printed cards before committing to a full set. Once the campaign ends and final files are available I’ll likely remount everything with the final adjustments.Owen and I already did a full playthrough of the game if you want to see how it plays. It’s a fun Lovecraftian tile-laying roguelite with deck-building elements — draft rooms in an ever-shifting university, fight Outsiders, collect forbidden books, and try not to lose your sanity.Links
