Watch “LOWENHERZ vs. DOMAINE Which one stays in my collection? (Board Game Comparison/Review 1997 v 2003),” a board game review for Löwenherz on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Undiscovered Games on YouTube:
*CLARIFICATION:* Some kind users brought to my attention the scoring in Lowenherz. Apparently I have been scoring this game wrong for years! You only count total squares when the region is *first* created. If you expand or lose squares, it's only 1 point per space (but still 5 points per castle/town). This means you don't have to refer to that chart EVERY time you gain or lose squares. Wow! That makes the scoring MUCH more streamlined and definitely tips the scales in favor of Lowenherz regarding the wonkyness & scoring segments of my breakdown.
In addition, I mentioned the King Is Dead card is on the bottom of the pile in Lowenherz. That is also a slight error; the King Is Dead card is shuffled in with the E cards, which means you don't know for sure when the game ends. The Lowenherz rulebook is poorly worded regarding both of these rules, so I would give more points in favor of Domaine for the rulebook segment of the video.
In conclusion, *THIS DOES NOT CHANGE THE OUTCOME OF MY VIDEO!* In fact, it just gives the winner more points, and strengthens my conviction that I made the right decision on which game to keep!

*EPISODE 18* is my first installment of Board Game vs. Board Game! I am featuring a side-by-side comparison of LÖWENHERZ (1997) and DOMAINE (2003). I have never been able to decide which game I like better, so I decided to do an in-depth analysis, assigning points to each game in various categories like graphics, theme, decisions, etc. My goal was to determine which game stays in my collection. I am not trying to convince you one way or another which game is better; this is just an exercise to help me decide. However, my hope is that you can also use this information to better decide for yourself.
