Watch “Let's Try - RBM Studio's Waterloo - June 16 Start - As French - French Strategic Victory,” a gameplay video for Waterloo Campaign 1815 on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Nathan Wailes Gaming on YouTube:
The AI was challenging enough to force me to have to think while also making mistakes towards the end that allowed me to win. Basically the Prussian's AI was too focused on moving towards the French entry hex at the expense of splitting up from the English, which allowed me to gang up on the corps that were left behind and get elimination results. And the Prussian AI wasn't smart enough to actually move onto the entry hex in a way that would block my strategic victory condition.
It would be interesting playing this against a human opponent. I'm also interested to try the earlier (June 15) start to see how it changes things.
Overall verdict: this is a really fun game because of the large space for maneuver. It does seem like in order to surround the enemy you often end up having to expose your own corps to being surrounded by enemy units, it's not yet clear to me how to handle that.
