This video features my painting process for Hastur – The King in Yellow, one of the most striking miniatures from the Cthulhu: Death May Die board game by CMON. I wanted to create an eerie, supernatural atmosphere while keeping Hastur’s iconic yellow appearance clearly visible. I painted the central figure by hand with Iyanden Yellow, carefully building the color with a brush to preserve the sculpted details. For the surrounding organic shapes and eldritch energy, I used an airbrush with different green tones, creating soft transitions and a mysterious glow around the miniature. Throughout the video, you can follow how I separate the central yellow figure from the surrounding green forms, develop the airbrushed gradients, strengthen the shadows and bring the strange textures of the miniature to life. The final result combines Hastur’s recognizable yellow robes with a corrupted, otherworldly aura inspired by the horror atmosphere of Cthulhu: Death May Die. This miniature was painted and filmed entirely by me.
