A few minutes of APBA Pro League Football: Demo and history of the classic game (Super Bowl 9)

Description provided by APBA Football Club on YouTube:

Remember those classic #APBAFOOTBALL brochures of the 1960s and 1970s? Let's play a few minutes of APBA FOOTBALL to re-create the opening of SUPER BOWL 9 between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings! A demo of APBA Football classic, revision 3, using the original boards for the original 1972 (copyright 1973) to 1981 (copyright 1982) season sets. 2:54 Overview of method, offensive index determination, offensive and defensive plays and decisions, advanced play options 8:37: Setting lineups for each team, including special team: What player point ratings mean and what XFs are 12:55 Determining offensive indexes, double-checking offensive and defensive starting 11 point totals 18:10 Quick-start instructions on vintage 1975 brochure 20:30: Timing the game 22:20 Kickoff and return 27:53 What the linemen do 29:00 Assess offensive strengths: Breakway runners, receiving grades, position codes and usage 31:14 Outside run 34:13 Short pass: Using allocation chart to target receiver for solo play and 16-point secondary grade reduction rule 39:14 Plunge (inside run) 40:08 Long pass and sack 42:50 Third and 17 44:16 Keying 44:49 Field goal (and 1974 goal post adjustment using original results boards for 1972 to 1981 season sets (released in 1973 through 1982) 46:41 Punt 49:06 Penalty resolution 50:26 Punt rekick, return by left cornerback with TC code 52:34 Final thoughts; three revisions of original game/results boards •• PLEASE NOTE: • I did not demo interception or fumble recoveries, but in this version of game returns are found on defender’s R column. • I did not illustrate the J ratings for injuries, which first appeared with the original 1972 season set. When a J (injury) result appears on a play, roll one die to determine if injury is on offense or defense; odd=offense, even-defense. Check the J rating on player card: J-1, J-2, J-3 or J-4 require a second roll and consultation of injury duration chart. However, a J-1 can only be out for remainder of the quarter, so no real need to reroll; a J-2 is out no longer than the rest of a half; a J-3 is out for up to the remainder of the game; and a J-4 is out for up to one or two games if you use the original chart (I and others extend the duration of a J-4 to potentially a full-season loss). A J-0 should sit out one play, but that is at your discretion.
