Perennial

2027Emily Vincent

Perennial is a gorgeous new puzzly tile-laying game about planting a lush, diverse, and beautiful prairie garden! The game is played over four rounds, with two phases per round. Each round players will have two turns to gather tools, plants, and animals for their gardens by selecting a Tool Card and combination of Plant and/or Animal Tokens. After all players have collected tools, plants, and animals, they simultaneously plant their gardens. The tricky part of the game is that you can only gather and plant based on the shape and form of the tools you collect. Earn points by creating regions of the same type/color of plant, by matching animals to their favorite plants, and by adding idyllic ponds and features to your garden. Players must be clever in both drafting and placement to balance all of their objectives in making the most harmonious garden. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins! Perennial uses polyominos in a new way! On a turn, players draft tiles from the board in one shape (based on the polyomino shape depicted on the card they select for their supply). These square tiles are then disaggregated when placed in the play area. In the placement phase, any of the player's collected tiles may be reassembled and placed in their garden by using a card in their collection. Assemble your own polyominos into the right configurations to place your wildflowers, wildlife, and garden features to score the most points! -description from the publisher

Micro Empires

2027Kamil Langie

Micro Empires is a strategic civilization-building game where players compete to forge the most prestigious empire. Throughout the game, players draft cards and manage resource tokens to construct a tableau representing their civilization's development. Each turn, players draft a set containing one Structure card and two Resource tokens. You can pay coins to construct the card immediately, or discard it for gold. The resource tokens you claim are then assigned to activate your structures or sold for cash. Watch the Reserve track closely: when you draft a card, its paired resource is removed and replaced from the bag. If two Military tokens occupy the Reserve simultaneously, a Conflict triggers, scoring players Victory Points based on their units on the map. Don't forget to invest in the Science & Technology track. Progressing across three distinct tracks unlocks perks and passive abilities that shape your empire's growth. Game End The game ends when a player completes their 10th building or when the Final Conflict is resolved. At this point, the player with the most Victory Points (VP) is declared the winner. -description from the publisher

Spirit Train

2027Casey Mattes, Zoey Mattes

Spirit Train is played in 3 Cycles. Each Cycle consists of a series of rounds where players will determine what to do using a unique simultaneous action selection mechanic. Before the start of each day, conductors will select between a list of different rooms to fill their train with. These rooms will provide base actions depending on the shape/size of the room. How many rooms you use will affect the speed and energy level of your train, as well as turn order. When spirits are active on your train, they will provide you even more actions. The number of active spirits you can select will depend on the current mood of your spirits (spirits are more active when they're happy!). You can maximize the number of actions you use by strategically placing active spirits into rooms you've created specifically for them on your train. In summary; you will select your actions for the day based on how you build your train, which spirits are currently active on the train, and where, on your train, you place your active spirits. After conductors reveal their trains, they will go through the 5 phases of each day. During the first phase, players simultaneously collect tickets and memory shards, as well as adjust spirit moods as needed. In the movement phase, conductors take turns moving their train through different regions such as forests, meadows, cities, the sea, and mountains. They might pick up spirits waiting at train stops, or challenge other conductors to a train prank-war! In the third phase, players take turns interacting with the spirits on their train, keeping them happy and cozy. During the fourth phase, conductors may fuse together memory shards, spending them to awaken a spirit's core memory. They then place a Memora block on the spirit's card to enhance and expand the actions available to it. The Spirit Train will gain different amounts of energy depending on what kind of memory (Memora block) was unlocked. In the last phase of each day, players spend tickets to house spirits from their hand, or drop spirits off from their train, helping them cross over to the true afterlife. Spirits are most comfortable crossing over in a region they are most familiar with, whether that be the forest, the mountains, etc. so be aware of where your train is currently running through. A new Cycle begins once a conductor reaches the train station at the end of the map. Players will gain rewards based on how far they are on the map at that time, then reset to the top to start a new Cycle. Conductors can choose how fast or slow they want to move through the regions depending on which strategies they want to pursue. At the end of each Cycle, Death will appear in one of its many forms to lure a spirit away from your train. Conductors must work together to send Death away, or collectively suffer the consequences. The ultimate goal of Spirit Train is to gain points by accomplishing 3 main objectives; interacting with the spirits on your train, helping those spirits cross over, and collecting spirit stones. The amount of points you gain per objective will depend on the mood of your spirits at the end of the game. If they are generally sad, you'll earn less points than if you work to keep them happy and comfortable. The player with the most points earns the honor of taking over as the new, true conductor of the Spirit Train. -description from the publisher

January 19, 1919. The Great War is over, the Kaiser has abdicated, and Germany is on its knees. After suffering a humiliating loss at the hands of the Allied nations, the former Great Power is now confronted not only with the death of millions of its citizens, but also with a severe economic crisis and a political turmoil that threatens to plunge the entire nation into civil war. The November Revolution of 1918 ushered in a new era of liberal democracy in a country traditionally ruled by noblemen warriors. The first democratic election has now been held, but democracy's enemies are numerous, and the future of the fledgling Republic appears grim. No one can tell whether the democratic Coalition will prevail or whether any of the extremist factions will rise out of the chaos and seize power. One thing is perfectly clear, however: the coming years will not be remembered for their peace and stability. The Weimar Republic is a Card Driven Game of political struggle in interwar Germany. Four factions compete for dominance: the democratic Coalition, the Soviet-backed Communist Party, Hitler's National Socialists, and the far-right Radical Conservatives. The game follows a timeline of 15 years (1919-1933) with two rounds in each year. During a round, players take turns using their faction-specific abilities to increase their influence in Germany's regions and major cities, to maneuver the political landscape of the Republic, and to dominate through a combination of propaganda, parliamentary elections, street violence, economic influence, and ideological zeal. Typical actions include agitation, reforms, recruitment and deployment of fighting men, strikes, uprisings, assassinations, and coups. General and regional elections are held at irregular intervals throughout the game, potentially shifting local power balances in sometimes radical ways. The timeline moves through three distinct eras, each with its own deck of event cards. There are also several special cards like Elections and Parliamentary Control Cards. Gameplay is fast-paced; initiative flows back and forth, and the direction of the game may change rapidly and unexpectedly. Although competition between the factions is fierce, some of the faction-specific mechanics overlap, and players can often take advantage of each other--including the making and unmaking of alliances. The Weimar Republic includes scenarios ranging in length from 3 to 8 hours and a special tutorial scenario that can be played by new players in only 90 minutes. Victory is absolute and generally achieved through “sudden death”; there is no final scoring or adding up of different objectives. Each faction can be replaced by a "bot" player, allowing 1-4 players to play with any combination of factions.

Hedge

2027John Muennink

In Hedge, 2–4 players take turns adding hedge pieces to a shared 3D garden maze. Each player has a supply of red and white hedges, along with special hedge pieces, and must place them while keeping the maze fully connected. Players may not divide the garden into inaccessible areas or prevent an entrance from reaching any part of the maze. Certain placements complete hedge formations that allow a player to grow again, creating opportunities to place multiple pieces while changing the options available to opponents. The first player to place every hedge from their supply wins. Hedge can be played competitively or in a 2-vs-2 team mode. -description from the publisher

Sandcastles

2026Alex Cutler

It's a perfect day at the beach, and the only thing left to settle is whose sandcastle reigns supreme! Sandcastles is a drafting and tile-laying game for 2-6 players in which everyone building their own sandcastle, tile by tile, over 15 rounds. Each round, one player reveals tiles one at a time and passes them around the table. Every player must decide in the moment whether to claim the current tile or hold out for something better later in the round - but once you take a tile, you're done for that round, whatever comes next. The tile you claim gets added to your sandcastle, a 5x5 grid anchored by your Starter Tile at the bottom center. Sand tiles build up from the ground following the rules of gravity, while sky tiles float at the top and drop down to rest on your highest sand tiles at game end. Scoring rewards players for building strategically: • Windows score based on how many appear in each horizontal row, with points jumping at specific thresholds. •Starfish score when placed adjacent to others of the same color, and collecting all five colors earns a bonus. • Shells, shovels, and buckets each carry flat point values, with end-game bonuses for whoever collects the most of each. • Filling your top row with five sky tiles earns a bonus as well. The player whose sandcastle totals the most points wins the title of Best Sandcastle at the Beach! -description from publisher

Wildscape

2026Sebastian Bleasdale

In Wildscape, you will restore barren lands in Africa with rich habitats -- woodlands, wetlands, savanna, deserts, and rivers -- to create areas for a diverse animal ecosystem to return and to thrive. Each player must expand their land and fill it with specific habitat tiles based on the needs of both common (but variable) objective cards and personal goal cards acquired throughout the game. Your habitats' size and type will attract various herbivores that grant end-game points and will support predators and primates that give powerful bonuses. You will hire specialists for their on-going effects to accelerate your revitalization effort in unique ways. The backbone of all of this is an action selection system on the community roundel where each space contains a unique combination of possible actions. Driven by this choice, action tokens cascade around the roundel creating an ever-changing strength for these actions throughout the game. The winner will be the one who develops the most valuable ecosystem of herbivores, predators, primates, birds, and indigenous fauna. -description from the publisher
