Beans are good business, especially when you have the right connections. As the head of a powerful farmers' association, you've built your fortune through favors, loyalty, and carefully negotiated deals. But every favor comes at a price, and family obligations can be impossible to escape. In this business, making money is easy. Keeping it away from the family is another matter entirely.
The Good Farmer is a must-follow trick-taking game with a shifting rank-based trump system and a dangerous penalty token. Players must follow either the suit or rank of the lead card whenever possible, while the trump track determines which ranks outrank all others. Winning with certain trump cards gradually reduces the number of trump ranks, changing card strength throughout the round. Tricks contain profitable cards as well as costly Family cards, and winning with a trump also transfers the Family token, which imposes a potentially severe penalty on whoever holds it at the end of the round. Players must carefully manage which tricks they win, balancing profitable deals against the risk of inheriting the family's debts.
