Watch “Spruance Leader - Base Game Playthrough Part 3,” a gameplay video for Spruance Leader from Hexed And Countered on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Hexed And Countered on YouTube:
The third part of a playthrough of the 'North Atlantic Skirmishes' campaign in "Spruance Leader" from Dan Verssen Games.
Following a disappointing result against a Soviet wolfpack of four submarines in our first mission, we draw our second target - and this one will involve navigating possible enemy task force encounters to reach.
Spruance Leader is the first foray for this venerable series into the naval realm and serves up some interesting "Cold War gone hot" gameplay. It has all the hallmarks of the Leader series with some special twists for its nautical theme.
NOTE: I mention at the end that there will be further entries in the base game playthrough but I have decided to move to the expansions which add a lot and will do a full campaign playthrough with expansions 2 & 3. Expansion 1: Submarines will get its own separate treatment.

About Spruance Leader, from BoardGameGeek:
Spruance Leader focuses on commanding and managing a US Navy Carrier Battle Group in the Cold War setting of the 80s and 90s, simulating major naval conflicts in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
Carrier battle groups, comprising aircraft carriers and their escorting ships, must be protected from the devastating attacks of missiles, torpedoes, bombs, and enemy vessels. Attack submarines which threaten the carrier battle groups have to be hunted down and neutralized. Air assets must be carefully assigned to combat air patrols, long-range strategic missions and attack strikes. You will need to manage the right combination of seaborne and airborne resources under your command in order to complete the various types of missions, and lead your group to victory.
