Watch “Sorcerer from Wise Wizard Games Full Second Kickstarter (Endbringer) Content Overview,” a board game unboxing for Sorcerer on BoardGameVideo.

Description provided by Nathan Butler on YouTube:

UPDATE (APRIL 2026): While I absolutely love Sorcerer, I need to retract something I said in these two videos. I stated that, while WWG crowdfunding campaigns always have terrible post-campaign communication and long delays, they always deliver and are always high quality. I no longer have confidence in WWG's ability to actually deliver physical products. They have multiple unfulfilled campaigns now and are in dire financial straits, having laid off most of their team, which leaves fulfillment of those campaigns, including Hero Realms: Dungeons, in doubt. I will no longer be covering any WWG products, even Star Realms or Hero Realms for "Nate's Favorite Deck Building Games," until such time as the HR:D campaign has delivered, which may mean never. ---------- Nate takes a look at the second wave of content for the Sorcerer card game from Wise Wizard Games, including a detailed overview of all components included, along which which were stretch goals and at what amounts. 00:00 Introduction 03:17 Kickstarter Details (Goal, Pledge Levels, Add-ons) 08:43 Large Dice Pack 10:11 Differences in Official Sleeves 12:46 Coastal Battlefields (and Abilities) 14:47 Non-Stretch Goal Packs 16:11 Stretch Goal Packs 16:46 New Character Avatars 17:09 Seth (Retail Add-on Character) 20:14 House of Petro (Retail Add-on Lineage) 25:45 Forsaken Church (Retail Add-on Domain) 27:30 Sigismund (KS Exclusive Add-on Character) 31:39 Sword of Gabriel (KS Exclusive Add-on Lineage) 36:35 Bewitched Woodland (KS Exclusive Add-on Domain) 38:43 Tatsu (KS Exclusive Stretch Goal Character) 44:39 Bloodcursed Ship (KS Exclusive Stretch Goal Domain) 47:33 Merlin (KS Exclusive Stretch Goal Character) 50:59 Forlorn Opera House (KS Exclusive Stretch Goal Domain) 55:20 Nicodemus (KS Exclusive Stretch Goal Character) 1:00:13 Possible Grimoire Combinations (Retail-only vs. Kickstarter) 1:02:20 Divider Pack 1:07:42 Endbringer Overview and Box 1:14:43 Endbringer Rulebook 1:16:51 Life/Defense Counter 1:18:01 Avatars (Nemeses) 1:18:20 Nemesis Avatar Battlefield Placement 1:19:31 Changes to Ready Phase 1:21:16 Erlik Khan (Nemesis) and How Nemeses Work 1:27:04 Ereshkigal (Nemesis) 1:32:27 Zcerneboch (Nemesis) 1:37:01 Hypnos (Nemesis) 1:45:26 Deathdealer (Archetype) and How Archetypes Work 1:55:47 Demiurge (Archetype) 2:01:32 Plaguebringer (Archetype) 2:05:50 Hellraiser (Archetype) 2:10:33 How Scenarios Work 2:11:38 Is Leading the Invasion (Scenario) 2:13:00 Is Awakening the Scions (Scenario) 2:14:47 Is Preparing a Dark Ritual (Scenario) 2:16:43 Is Arming the Horde (Scenario) 2:18:04 How Monoliths Work 2:19:45 Black Stone Monoliths (Normal Difficulty) 2:21:18 Black Stone Monoliths (Beginner Difficulty) 2:22:07 Veteran Difficulty 2:23:06 Shattered Monoliths (Veteran or Hard without Scenario) 2:23:18 Scenario Monoliths (Veteran or Hard) 2:24:24 Nemeses Monoliths (Veteran or Hard) 2:25:11 Archetype Monoliths (Veteran or Hard) 2:26:36 Hard Difficulty 2:27:10 Manual Difficulty Adjustment 2:28:33 Storage (Core Box) 2:32:26 Storage (Endbringer Box) 2:36:04 Final Comments and Caveats when Backing WWG Kickstarters Note from Nate: This is not a traditional "unboxing video," as I find those compelling at times but often frustrating as people take out components and react without a clue what they actually are or what they do in the game itself. I tend to instead actually play the game a little to get a good feel for the components and rules, then see about creating a video like this one. I also should note that I don't go in-depth with the rules here, but I touch on the rules by component for those who are trying to glean a sense of how the game might play with such components.

About Sorcerer, from BoardGameGeek:

Sorcerer: A Strategy Card Game is set in what the company describes as a grim, gaslamp lit world full of fantastic, mythical creatures and sorcery. Designed for two to four players, the game pits two ancient beings of great power against one another to determine which of their lineage are strongest. The players use sorcery to conjure minions, cast spells, and wield enchanted items to reach the game's goal of conquering three battlefields. The game uses a simple resource system of "energy" that is determined randomly by a dice-roll at the beginning of each round, to make sure no round is the same. However, the outcome being the same for both players, the game balance stays even. This energy is then used in the Action Phase for conjuring minions from your hand on any of three battlefields, casting possessions that can improve your minion's traits and abilities; or sorcery cards with various direct effects. Also as an action you can add more energy to your Energy Pool, draw more cards, move minions to another battlefield etc. The choice is yours, it is just about your pure skill to handle the battle preparation! In the Battle Phase players roll amount of custom dice equal to each minion's attack trait with possible outcome of miss, hit, double hit or critical hit for each die, and place damage counters on the respective minions or directly to the Battlefield. A unique system of Omen tokens then allows to adjust this outcome by re-rolling the dice, before distributing the damage among opponent's minions and battlefield. The combination of usual mechanics like story driven deck building, push your luck or dice-rolling; and a unique system of influencing the outcome of the battle, provides a perfect balance between strategy and random elements (even you still have the possibility to influence the outcome). Dividing the round to the Action Phase and Battle Phase then creates a very pleasant and natural flow of the hardcore game play. Sorcerer was first developed in 2012, and in 2014, Peter Scholtz consulted with Czech and Slovak board gaming communities intensively to fine tune the mechanics of the game. In August 2014, the first “Print and Play” demo version of Sorcerer was published, responding to all the remarks and feedback Peter Scholtz received, allowing him to create both his upgraded, native language demo and finally the, English language version of Sorcerer. The Sorcerer prototype was available for the wide audience as a free to play testing material over the year 2014. After another year of intense work and listening to the game community, Peter Scholtz went to Essen Spiel to meet some of the greatest board game publishers and show them the game. After a meeting with Rob Dougherty, CEO of the White Wizard Games, game designer (Star Realms, Hero Realms, and Epic card game), and last but not least, MTG Hall of Fame player, the dice was finally rolled. In 2016, Peter Scholtz become a White Wizard Games team member and together they prepared the game for its KS campaign launch in November 2017.
