Join Rob from This Board Game Life as he unboxes Papyria, the latest release from designer Bernd Eisenstein, picked up fresh from Gen Con. In this video, Rob walks through everything in the box — from the 12-page rulebook and its handy component guide to the tiles, boards, and colorful pieces. Along the way he takes a closer look at the artwork by Daniel Kuna, the surprisingly sturdy two-layer boards, and all the little shields, priests, ships, and buildings that come inside. Come take a peek at what's packed into this one!
Papyria is a 1–4 player game set in Mesopotamia around 1500 BC, along the fertile banks of the Tigris and Euphrates, where great cultures flourished through trade, invention, and the rise of the first cities. Over the course of 90–120 minutes, players explore the region to build canals, discover inventions, develop mines, and construct temples, sanctuaries, and cities. On your turn, you move your wanderer or ship and choose two of three possible actions, gathering resources like lapis and papyrus to fuel your building and scoring. The game ends once certain spaces are depleted and a number of end-of-game tiles are fulfilled, with the highest score claiming victory.
