Enter the haunting world of Yharnam as I paint the Cleric Beast from Bloodborne: The Board Game. The Cleric Beast is one of Bloodborne’s most iconic and unforgettable monsters. For this miniature painting project, I wanted to emphasize its unnatural anatomy, rough skin texture, deep shadows, and blood-stained details while preserving the dark gothic atmosphere of the game. I begin the painting process with a Stone Golem dry brush over the primed miniature. This first dry brush pass quickly reveals the raised fur, stretched skin, bones, and other sculpted textures. I apply it more strongly to the upper surfaces while allowing the darker underpainting to remain inside the recesses, creating a simple lighting guide for the following colors. For the main layers, I use Black Lotus and Bone White to build contrast between the deepest shadows and the pale, cursed skin. Instead of covering the dry-brushed foundation completely, I apply the colors in controlled layers so that some of the original texture and light remain visible. To deepen the miniature without losing its pale appearance, I use Agrax Earthshade and Nuln Oil selectively. Agrax Earthshade adds dirty, aged shadows to the organic surfaces, while Nuln Oil strengthens the darkest recesses and separates overlapping details. Blood Angels Red is then added to selected wounds and fleshy areas, bringing a disturbing touch of color to the otherwise limited palette. For the stone base, I use Crackle Medium followed by Stone Golem, creating an old and damaged surface that feels at home in the streets of Yharnam.
