Watch “Notebook Nations | A 4X Game But It's CUTE, EASY To Learn, And PLAYS QUICKLY!,” a board game review for Notebook Nations on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by TableTopVibes on YouTube:
In Notebook Nations, you’ll dive into the map to gather encounters, grow your nation through building, tap into the map’s resources, and either wipe out other players or dodge being wiped out yourself!
4X games can feel a bit overwhelming at first. They’re massive games designed to keep even the most dedicated players hooked. Notebook Nations is perfect for those who want to enjoy a special 4X experience during lunch, or for anyone looking to transition from a 4X newbie to a full-blown fan.
When you start, you’ll pick a Nation, a map, and a starting zone. Then, it’s time to decide on initiative bonuses to figure out who goes first each turn. During your turn, you’ll earn income, move around, act, and use Source powers with your Avatar. You’ll also use your building tiles to expand your settlements and military, and your units to battle with your neighbors.
To win, you’ll need to make smart decisions to earn the right number of victory points in three different areas: science VP (by focusing on research), culture VP (by building structures that boost your culture score), or military VP (by raising and commanding your troops to take over an opponent’s town hall).
