In Oceanic, you’ll gather and play cards featuring marine life, build homes for creatures in different environments like the Coral Reef and the Abyss, and learn to navigate an ocean where every decision affects the whole ecosystem. Each game is filled with fresh mixes of marine life, natural forces, and strategic choices. It’s like the ocean itself: always changing, full of surprises, and offering new interactions every time you play.
Oceanic uses biome hexes with five color-coded edges that make it easy to place them and fit them into the theme. Each player connects to the ocean through their unique edge of each hex, so you can easily see where your influence reaches in the ecosystem.
In Oceanic, the food chain is a shared experience. Food tokens are available for everyone, not just for you. Put food on a hex, and anyone can use it, just like in a real ecosystem where your helpful plankton might become someone else’s perfect meal. The key to winning is knowing when to act, predicting what your opponents need, and deciding whether to feed the ocean right away or save it for later.
Moving around in Oceanic is like a journey. As you travel around the ocean gyre, you’ll find more food and unlock chances to claim biomes. Each round is a test of patience and ambition: should you move now to gain momentum, or should you stay put and make your ecosystem even better before the current takes you to someone else’s favorite spot?
