Command the Oceans videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRq8fy93o3wHgOjk8bkYNefxa7TCGWUiE Details: Duration of Contest Starts on July 6th 2017 (anything created from the start of the poll thread can be used) Ends on August 1st 2018! (this is the end of the creation period, when final pictures must be submitted to this thread. The voting will take place in August in the weeks afterward) Voting criteria: These are the categories. All will be scored out of 5. (ie. 5/5 is the highest score you can receive in a single category, 25/25 would be a perfect score) 1. Visual Appearance (how amazing does the ocean look?) 2. Playability (how badly do you want to play games on this ocean? Has the creator actually played on their own ocean by submitting a battle report?) 3. Originality/New ideas (with two Ocean Terrain contests already in the books, try not to copy any ideas or make your ocean look too similar to past ones; links are below) 4. Ingenuity/resourcefulness of materials used (how well did the creator use what they had available? What did you learn from their creations?) 5. Excitement/Intangibles (how much did this ocean WOW you? Is it more memorable than the other oceans in the contest? Bonus points if you can document a game being played on the ocean!) ~~~~~ Command the Oceans: https://pirateswithben.com/tag/command-the-oceans/ That's the game I played with the stuff I made for this contest. I originally started the game to show off my creations, but it quickly morphed into something FAR bigger than that, both literally and figuratively. I HIGHLY recommend checking out the battle reports for that game to see how this stuff functions in a real game. It was the biggest game of Pirates ever up to this point, and one of the best games I've ever played. MAJOR SPOILERS for CTO are within these posts!! Literally my entire goal in the whole process was to $ave Dat Money: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvHYWD29ZNY&feature=youtu.be&t=1m27s (Normally I hate songs with autotune but that song just hits me in a way that no other song has lol) That became my theme song and "anthem" if you will when I thought about making stuff. All corners would be cut, all the monies would be saved and nearly ZERO dollars would be spent. The second “main idea” of my projects was something that speaks to me on a personal level for the Pirates CSG world as a whole: GAMEPLAY TRUMPS EVERYTHING. By that, I mean that using my stuff in games is far more important than how aesthetic it looks. I want to be able to use epic and unique custom stuff that functions properly and in an “epic” way when I play Pirates. As with other things in Pirates (custom ships, etc), I think it is best to play, not just ponder and pontificate. I realize that this mindset is completely contradictory to how to win this contest, as the most aesthetically beautiful entry will likely win. However, to me playing the game is the most important thing; if the stuff doesn’t get used, why bother making it? (other than selling it for a profit haha) ~~~~~ GEAR I USE: Laptop: https://amzn.to/2Jpi0PM Camera: https://amzn.to/2LqBZOG Yes, that is it. The computer audio input and output has worked great for both videos and the podcasts. Camera doesn't have great battery life for videos but it works well enough. I did get an SSD for the laptop in early 2018.
