Let's Play Axis Empires: Totaler Krieg Video 4 - 1939 Gameplay (On the Brink)

Description provided by Christopher Askwith on YouTube:

A game of Axis Empires (Ultimate Edition): Totaler Krieg. This video plays through the 1939 game year, during which time the Germans continue their efforts to overturn the international order in Europe, the British and French prepare to fight, and the Soviets continue expanding their international coalition. EDIT TO ADD: Since this video has gone live, I've had a few errors pointed out to me! I'll make a point of mentioning them in the next video, but here they are for the record: (1) A smaller but potentially consequential error is that the French missed out on a reinforcement step they ought to have gained from their War Economy marker in the Winter 1939 turn. (2) Rather more significantly, the Axis forgot to apply the -1 DRM from the Western influence marker in Belgium-Holland to their demand roll. That would have caused the net result of the roll to be low enough to cause the Country Resists result. (3) The Soviets forgot to apply the -1 DRM from the Soviet influence marker in the Baltic States to their second political event as part of Negotiations with Baltic States. Given their actual die roll that would have meant rolling on the guarantee table, so it's reasonably likely they would have ended up with no result at the end, though. If there are any lessons to be drawn from this, they are: (1) One of the biggest benefits of playing with other people is that they'll point out when you've forgotten something - unless they've forgotten it themselves, which can and does happen. (2) Unless you're very careful, be prepared to find you've overlooked something - even something big! (Speaking of overlooking things, in both solitaire and multiplayer play one thing I've noticed myself and my playing group often forget is the Allied Lend-Lease conditional event.)
