Doyle Jeffries sat at his desk, a sheaf of cuttings, stories and photographs were strewn everywhere as he cut and pasted together a mock up of the following mornings edition for the typesetters. Jeffries didn't trust his printers to set a bowl of Jello never mind his paper. He frowned then grabbed his phone punching for an internal line. "Where the hell is Simmons? I wanted a picture for this story about the mountain lion eating pet dogs. Well find him! I don't know, Barbara! If I did I wouldn't need you to go get him would I? Tell Gilbert to go look in Velma's or something. Simmons is in there all the time. Oh... Tell him to get me a danish while he's there..." Jeffries slammed down the receiver. The desk before him seemed to change colour and shift slightly. "Like a cockamamie kaleidoscope or something..." was how he tried to describe it to his bored secretary Barbara when she handed over his pastry. Right now he looked up in surprise to see a red haired woman step out from his private washroom. Well perhaps it was his washroom? For a split second Jeffries thought he saw a roiling cloud of sparkling purple smoke behind her. I just looked up too quick he thought. That's it. Got a little dizzy...
"You Jeffries? The Arkham Advertiser editor? Good job you're sat down. Now look at these. You just shush. Ah ah! I'm not in the mood for any of your bluster. Shut up and listen. Simmons sent me," the woman looked at his desk. "Oh I've got way better copy than that." Mandy swept all the paperwork from the desk onto the floor and banged down two large manila folders. "I had a little time to pull this all together..."

About Arkham Horror, from BoardGameGeek:
The year is 1926, and it is the height of the Roaring Twenties. Flappers dance till dawn in smoke-filled speakeasies drinking alcohol supplied by rum runners and the mob. It's a celebration to end all celebrations in the aftermath of the war to end all wars.
Yet a dark shadow grows in the city of Arkham. Alien entities known as Ancient Ones lurk in the emptiness beyond space and time, writhing at the gates between worlds. These gates have begun to open and must be closed before the Ancient Ones make our world their ruined domination.
Only a handful of investigators stand against the Arkham Horror. Will they Prevail?
Arkham Horror is a cooperative adventure game themed around H.P Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Players choose from 16 Investigators and take to the streets of Arkham. Before the game, one of the eight Ancient Ones is chosen and it's up to the Investigators to prevent it from breaking into our world. During the course of the game, players will upgrade their characters by acquiring skills, allies, items, weapons, and spells. It's up to the players to clean out the streets of Arkham by fighting many different types of monsters, but their main goal is to close gates to other dimensions that are opening up around town. With too many gates open the Ancient One awakens and the players only have one last chance to save the world - defeat the Ancient One in combat!
