Joe reloaded his .45 and holstered it under his arm. It had been quite the chase through that portal to God knows where, across a landscape so bright... so saturated with colour it was almost alien. Whaddya mean almost? Joe sighed at himself. It *had* been alien. Luckily for Joe the cultist hadn't been able to lose him and he'd followed them through and back out again. Illuminated as they had been passing through the exit portal he couldn't miss. They had stumbled and staggered on for a few minutes but his shot had been true and here they were dead on the Merchant District streets. Joe kicked at the dead cultist with his foot to turn them over. Joe's eyes widened slightly. It was a woman but not just any woman. Crumpled in the snow was the broad who had given him Sanford's package back at the Providence museum. Her cloak and hood were now twisted around her but Diamond could see the clasp at the throat of the garment. It wasn't a Silver Twilight badge. This one looked like a bunch of fine crystal twigs that made up a prowling figure. What did it remind him of... that was it! The figure that Simmons had drawn on his napkin in back at Velma's. Not identical but the overall aesthetic was the same. So were Sanford and his cult being scammed by another set of nut jobs? Had yours truly just been a dumb patsy caught in the middle? One thing was for sure. The woman hadn't expected Joe - or Mandy - to arrive at the house. She must have been looking for her pals that had slugged him back in Providence. Perhaps that strange 'place' beyond the shimmering gateway had been a hideout hidden inside a hideout? Crazy. Joe lit a cigarette and looked down at the body by his feet. "It's tough in the big leagues, kiddo," he said before heading off down the street. The snow had come again and behind him it was turning her cloak from a dark crimson into a pale white shroud...

About Arkham Horror, from BoardGameGeek:
The year is 1926, and it is the height of the Roaring Twenties. Flappers dance till dawn in smoke-filled speakeasies drinking alcohol supplied by rum runners and the mob. It's a celebration to end all celebrations in the aftermath of the war to end all wars.
Yet a dark shadow grows in the city of Arkham. Alien entities known as Ancient Ones lurk in the emptiness beyond space and time, writhing at the gates between worlds. These gates have begun to open and must be closed before the Ancient Ones make our world their ruined domination.
Only a handful of investigators stand against the Arkham Horror. Will they Prevail?
Arkham Horror is a cooperative adventure game themed around H.P Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos. Players choose from 16 Investigators and take to the streets of Arkham. Before the game, one of the eight Ancient Ones is chosen and it's up to the Investigators to prevent it from breaking into our world. During the course of the game, players will upgrade their characters by acquiring skills, allies, items, weapons, and spells. It's up to the players to clean out the streets of Arkham by fighting many different types of monsters, but their main goal is to close gates to other dimensions that are opening up around town. With too many gates open the Ancient One awakens and the players only have one last chance to save the world - defeat the Ancient One in combat!
