She adjusted her glasses and made a decision. When she had met him at the gala he'd seemed a decent man. Troubled but fundamentally decent. She'd seen the tell-tale signs in Simmons, symptoms that many men who had come back from the war exhibited, and few were left mentally unscathed. She had quickly noticed, for example, that the photographer seemed almost to jump when he used his flash gun - most unusual given his profession. That is unless some experience connected sudden flashes and loud noises with a previous traumatic episode. The ensuing conversation, subtly guided, revealed the accuracy of her initial assessment. That talk, coupled with her professional ability to accurately assess a person’s character, convinced Carolyn that she could trust him. "Mr Simmons. What if I told you that, far from thinking you in need of psychiatric help, that I actually believe every word of your story? What if I told you that myself, and an old college friend of mine, think that something is very wrong here in Arkham? My friend will be along in a few minutes. We are going to pick each other’s brains and examine in detail some strange information that we have been collating. I'd like you to stay, tell her what you have just told me and join our meeting. Would you do that?" Wide-eyed in surprise and with no small measure of relief Simmons nodded slowly. Carolyn raised a finger and quickly got up. She opened the door to her tiny office. The corridor was empty. Closing the door, she returned to her seat and lowered her voice. "Furthermore, I'm on the brink of a breakthrough here. There is an employee at this very Asylum who has access to some records I very much want to look at. With both your help and my friend's I think we can strike a deal..." “Ice Demon” by Kevin Macleod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: by Attribution 4.0 licence http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ "Jaunty Gumption" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ KungFro's Introductory Scenarios: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/69008/introductory-and-expansion-scenarios KungFro's Thematic Starting Possessions: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/63297/thematic-starting-possessions Wolfpack48's Thematic Scenarios: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/filepage/136757/arkham-horror-thematic-scenario-project Wolfpack48's Arkham Horror Reference Guide https://rpggeek.com/filepage/132057/arkham-horror-reference-guide AH & EH Monster Token Sleeves: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0000EJCEP/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Acoustic Foam Panels (to organise cards): https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006I1J25E/ref=pd_sim_267_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=MR8809AP9VBD33W85DYF E-raptor AH & EH acrylic organisers: https://www.e-raptor.pl/ AH & EH coloured Card Stands: https://www.bgextras.co.uk/card-stands/rectangular-card-stands
