"Above the filth rises Florence, a city wealthy and decayed where sin slithers through its alleys like viscous tar. It spreads, infecting taverns, markets, and palaces, consuming its inhabitants with desire and vice. Beneath the city, lies the eternal horror, Hell itself. Nine circles of sin imprison nine distinct kinds of sinners. Their miserable souls are brought before Minos, the ancient king, who at a glance discovers their darkest sins. They are then led to their appropriate circle, to receive punishment as hideous as their transgressions. In Florence, your family members serve as your eyes and your sword. They scout the city in search of those plagued by lust, possessed by violence, or tainted by betrayal. Through your influence, the vile are crushed by the mace of justice and the unyielding staff of Faith. Their souls, wrapped in shrouds, gather at Hell’s gates. They wait for Charon, the ferryman, who will take them across the river. Underground, your ancestors guide these souls into the deep. They will cross the River Styx, the fortress walls of legendary Dis, and face the circle guardians. Beware of them: some are trustworthy, but others will petrify you with a single glance. Inferno is a soul management game where each player must guide sinners to their respective circles in Hell. The central board consists of two parts: one displaying all 9 circles and the soul registry, while the other represents Florence in the early 14th century, where Dante lived, with its power games and palace intrigues. The game plunges you into a nightmarish and morbid realm that will both challenge your mind and stimulate your senses."
