James Ernest of Crab Fragment Labs explains how to play The Fractured Flat, a pure abstract game for two players.
The board for the Fractured Flat is a chaotic field of 45 spaces, with each color indicating the number of adjacent spaces (between 2 and 6). Players take turns placing or moving pieces, and scoring points as they go.
You may place only in open space, and spaces are open for you only if (a) all lower-sized spaces are occupied, or (b) you already have a piece in a space of similar rank. You may move only into a space that is one side larger than the space you are moving from.
