🦠 FOLLOW IMMUNOLOGY ON KICKSTARTER: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/geniusgames/immunology-an-infection-defense-game?ref=kc5aor 🎲 IMMUNOLOGY ON BOARDGAMEGEEK: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/475896/immunology-an-infection-defense-game Learn how to play Immunology: An Infection Defense Game! In this rules walkthrough, we teach the first scenario (training scenario) of Immunology, including what players can do on their turn, how bacteria move and replicate inside the wound, how White Blood Cells fight the infection, and how players work together to strengthen the body's immune response. Scenario 0 introduces the core systems of the game using Streptococcus pyogenes ("Strep") as the invading bacteria. Upgraded Cards such as Dendritic Cells, Mast Cells and Maturation Cards are included in this Scenario, as well the more fierce Staphylococcus bacteria and Pseudomonas bacteria, making it the best place to learn the fundamentals before moving on to more challenging infections. Immunology: An Infection Defense Game is a cooperative, deck building, "stop the invaders" style strategy board game where players take on the role of the human immune system, working together to stop a bacterial infection before it spreads deeper into the body. The game is grounded in the real science of how White Blood Cells fight invading bacteria. The battle takes place inside a small cut in the skin, where bacteria move deeper into the wound, replicate, and threaten the surrounding tissue. IN THIS VIDEO, YOU'LL LEARN: 🧬 WHAT YOU CAN DO ON YOUR TURN Learn the primary actions available to players and how to coordinate with the rest of the immune system. 🦠 HOW STREP SPREADS See how Streptococcus pyogenes moves through the wound, replicates, and makes the infection increasingly dangerous. ⚔️ HOW WHITE BLOOD CELLS ATTACK Use Neutrophils and other immune defenses to attack bacterial colonies and remove bacteria from the wound. 🩸 HOW VASODILATION WORKS Increase blood flow and open additional spaces so more White Blood Cells can enter the fight. ⬆️ HOW TO UPGRADE THE IMMUNE SYSTEM Spend Cytokines, Histamines, and other resources to gain stronger cards and improve the body's immune response. 🃏 HOW THE CARDS WORK We'll walk through several of the cards used in Scenario 1 and explain how they interact with the board, White Blood Cells, bacteria, and other immune-system mechanisms. 🔥 HOW INFLAMMATION AFFECTS THE GAME Each round introduces new problems for the immune system to deal with, including bacteria moving deeper into the wound or replicating if players don't respond in time. 🧹 HOW TO CONTROL THE WOUND Fighting the infection isn't only about destroying bacteria. Players must also manage the consequences of the immune response and keep the wound from becoming overwhelmed. Scenario 0 is designed to teach the core gameplay systems before later scenarios introduce additional bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus ("Staph") and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ("Pseudo"), each with their own behaviors and challenges. Can your team build up the immune response, eliminate the Strep infection, and keep the bacteria from spreading deeper into the body? 🧬 MORE BIOLOGY GAMES FROM GENIUS GAMES: https://www.geniusgames.org/collections/biology This video features a prototype version of Immunology. About Immunology: An Infection Defense Game, from BoardGameGeek:

In Immunology: An Infection Defense Game, players work together as the human immune system to fight a bacterial infection spreading through a cut in the skin. Grounded in the real science of how the human immune system responds to invading bacteria, the game follows the body's escalating immune response as bacteria enter the wound, multiply, and push deeper into the surrounding tissue while players build increasingly powerful defenses to stop them. Each round begins with an Inflammation card that threatens to make the infection worse. Bacteria may replicate, spread deeper into the wound, become more difficult to eliminate, or cause additional tissue damage. Players must decide which threats need to be dealt with immediately and which can be allowed to develop while they invest in stronger defenses. Using cards and shared resources, players recruit and move white blood cells, attack bacterial colonies, increase vasodilation, produce immune signaling molecules like Cytokines or Histamine, clear accumulated pus, and upgrade the immune system. Neutrophils are plentiful first responders that can quickly attack bacteria but contribute to pus when they die, while Macrophages are more costly but can both destroy bacteria and clean up the aftermath of the immune response. Dendritic Cells produce Cytokines that help recruit additional defenders, and Mast Cells release Histamine to increase vasodilation and bring more immune cells to the infection. Different bacteria create different challenges. Streptococcus can spread rapidly through the wound, Staphylococcus is more difficult to destroy and can kill attacking Neutrophils, while Pseudomonas becomes especially dangerous deeper in the wound, where it can develop protective biofilms. As the infection grows, players face a continual choice between spending their limited resources to contain the immediate threat or investing in a stronger immune response for the rounds ahead. To win, the players must eliminate the invading bacteria and bring the infection under control before it spreads too deeply and overwhelms the body's defenses. Immunology: An Infection Defense Game is a cooperative strategy game inspired by the real biology of inflammation, bacterial infection, and the human immune response. -description from the designer and publisher
