Rick: Hey Pete, do you want to go on a dragon hunt? Pete: Hey Rick, what the heck is that? Rick: It’s when we go out into the woods to have a great adventure hunting for dragons and stuff. It’s in the name, man. Pete: Well, what kind of dragons? Komodo dragons? I think we should leave them alone. Humans have done enough damage to this silly planet. Rick: No, I mean like a mythical dragon. We would go out and hunt for mythical dragons. Pete: Did you just get back from an all-night pub crawl or something? What’s happening? Rick: No, seriously. It’ll be a grand adventure. It’s just kind of goofy and silly! Pete: So, a goofy and silly adventure like a J.R.R. Tolkien adventure, not a George R.R. Martin adventure, right? Rick: What’s the difference? Pete: The difference, Richard, is that in Tolkien’s adventures everyone goes out and sleeps on the ground outside in the cold, forages for food a little bit, learns something about themselves through adversity, and spends the majority of their time feeling a little bit sad. But at the end of the adventure, there is always a warm home, plenty of crispy bacon strips crackling on the fire, and an abundance of frosty and foamy beverages to go around. Much like a pub crawl. Rick: And a George R.R. Martin adventure? Pete: Oh, well, a George R.R. Martin adventure is where we go out and we realize that life is complete crap, but it doesn’t really matter because as soon as we realize that, three-fourths of us die in one gruesome fashion or another. Rick: So—not ideal? Pete: Just so. And, as we have well-established before, we are both comfy-bed men. Rick: Oh, come on, dude. We can rough it if we have to. And we’ve been through plenty of hard times. We could do it again. Pete: I’ve been to your apartment. I know you have a shower cap. Rick: That’s my wife’s, not mine. Pete: Christina has two different shower caps? Rick: Yes, yes she does. Let’s go with that. Pete: And one of them has a picture of Bilbo Baggins on it? Rick: Well, no. That one’s mine. Pete: That’s what I thought. People who use shower caps are not suited for going on dragon-hunting adventures. Rick: What about a board game about dragon-hunting adventures? I have one for us to unbox called Here be Dragons: Into the Unknown (2020), designed by Kim Åberg and Kim Jansson and published by Todys Games. Pete: See, now, that I could get on board with.
