Watch “Essen 2026 Preview | 30 Games Enter. Only 5 Survive.,” a board game video for -60° from The Hungry Meeple on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by The Hungry Meeple on YouTube:
30 games enter. Only 5 survive.
SPIEL Essen 2026 is almost here, and Ramon, Troy, and Andrew each came prepared with their own Top 10 most anticipated games.
That gives us 30 picks spanning a wide range of styles, themes, mechanisms, and levels of complexity — but this isn’t just three separate lists.
After revealing all 30 picks, we take on one final challenge: draft a shared Hungry Meeple Top 5.
Which games made all three of us excited? Where did we completely disagree? Which picks surprised the table? And most importantly:
Did your pick make the cut?
Along the way, we talk about what caught our attention, what we’re hoping to discover at Essen, and why these games stood out from the massive field of 2026 releases.
And because this is The Hungry Meeple, we’re doing the preview with a German Flensburger Dunkel at the table.
Tell us your most anticipated game for SPIEL Essen 2026 in the comments — especially if we missed it.
