This is video on the starting set up of Axis & Allies WW2 board game ( Original board game, NOT 2nd edition ).
Board dimensions: 35x 20 inches or 83 x 50 cm
2009 was a brand new era for Axis & Allies, the talk of wanting to connect 2 games together to make one big board...well, almost the wait is over.
Following the 2001 original game of Pacific, this new vamped version really came through, continuing the original rules but also throwing in a few extra elements to sparkle attention.
One of them is the Political Situation rule. Based in 1940, the game starts with just Japan and China at War. The remaining 3 Allies are at piece in the Pacific Theater with Japan.
It's a cat and mouse game to provoke and disturb terms and treaty with one another to really begin the back to basics Axis & Allies we all know well.
The Political Situation rule is great because the designer ( Larry Harris ) has really put history into game play as much as he could. Playing this game first hand may seem a bit confusing when reading the rules, but understanding the political history, it makes a lot more sense.
Not included is: IPC paper money, plastic industrial complex's and anti-aircraft guns, victory capital city roundels, task force cards and it may seem lack of playing units.
Also in the Pacific 2001, the US Marine Units are taken out in this new Pacific game.
Added is the Cruiser Warship that was originally introduced in Guadalcanal. Also the Mechanized Infantry ( better known as the Track, introduced in Battle of the Bulge ). I forgot to mention in the video.
New also is a new Tactical Bomber ( also forgot to highlight in video ) that can land on aircraft carriers, plus scramble which is similar to the 2001 Pacific game ( TAC ).
There is a 2nd edition to the exact game with added extra supply of units, plastic chips are new colours, but I haven't bought it as I prefer the original!
