Set in the world of Frank Herbert's Dune, players control an iconic faction: House Atreides, House Harkonnen, the Bene Gesserit, the Fremen, the Spacing Guild, or the Emperor; using their faction's unique advantages to control the desert planet of Arrakis. A highly social strategy game that involves negotiation, bluffing, and direct conflict, Dune has endured since 1979. In this edition, the classic Dune board game has been updated with a single ruleset, and optimized for clarity. Updates include: - Spice strength in combat replaces half-dialing. - Karama only cancels one advantage for each faction. - Revival simplified. - Spice cards have double spice blows. - Terminology changes (e.g., kinetic instead of projectile, many faction advantages have more thematic names). - Faction changes (for example, Atreides Battle Prescience can see a Weapon or Defense Slot, Spacing Guild's special victory condition requires more engagement, Fremen allies can Ride the Worm). -description from designer
