Assault on Doomrock: Ultimate Edition is a completely rebuilt and expanded version of the original cooperative fantasy board game. In this roguelike-style campaign, 1-4 players form a party of uniquely generated heroes and embark on a peril-filled, three-act fantasy adventure filled with dry humor, deadly encounters, and highly tactical battles. Each Act is divided into two phases: the Adventure and the Battle. During the Adventure, players explore a procedurally generated world map, uncovering secret areas, visiting strange locations, managing limited time, and gearing up with powerful items and synergetic abilities. Locations and quests reward calculated risk-taking, while perils and exposure punish the unprepared. Combat in Doomrock is gridless and dice-driven, emphasizing initiative, positioning, ability synergy, and minimal output randomness. Players roll and assign dice to their ability cards, activating combos, reacting to enemy A.I., and making use of new mechanics like Provoke, Stealth, Activation Cubes, and pets. This definitive edition integrates content from previous expansions and introduces: A revamped battle system with enemy activation decks Custom dice and poker chips A redesigned campaign structure and rulebook (v4.0) Over a dozen new heroes, pets, secret areas, and modular expansions Main features: Focus on replayability, with scenarios in the spirit of rogue-like games, generated from a massive amount of cards A distinct, gridless battle system utilizing dice-allocation mechanics and encounters powered by highly-thematic A.I. Power up between encounters by exploring a randomly-generated world and resolving quests, triggering events, and scoring epic gear and new abilities that bring unexpected synergies between heroes. Victory is achieved by defeating the Act III boss at Doomrock. Defeat can come swiftly through time mismanagement, poor coordination, or simply being unprepared for what's behind the next ominous mountain pass. Similar to: Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion - Both feature tactical, cooperative campaigns with character upgrades and evolving encounters. Too Many Bones - Dice-based tactical gameplay with quirky characters, heavy combo potential, and a roguelike structure. Legends of Andor - Scenario-based fantasy co-op with event-driven timing and emphasis on managing map pressure.
