In this video, I paint the Scout Dwarf and a Resupply Pod from the Deep Rock Galactic board game — using the powerful combination of zenithal priming and contrast paints. This technique is essential for miniature painters looking to add natural light effects to their figures. By applying a base layer of black primer followed by a lighter bone-colored coat from above, you establish a clear light source and shadow map that guides your entire painting process. This method helps beginners and veterans alike visualize where highlights should fall without needing complex color theory. Zenithal priming allows you to see the volume of your model instantly. This simple step saves time during the shading phase because the contrast is already built into the figure.
