About Vexus, from BoardGameGeek:
Vexus is a competitive strategy card game for two to eight players. Players manage Health, Coins and Gems while deciding how much risk to take and when to interact with opponents. The main objectives are to collect 100 Gems or remain the last player alive. An Emperor encounter also offers a possible immediate victory through its reward roll.
The Base Game uses three shared decks: Boss, Resource and Shop. Resource cards provide Health, Coins or Gems. Boss cards lead to encounters in which surviving the damage permits a reward roll; stronger Bosses carry greater risks and rewards. Coins can purchase Shop effects or pay to avoid certain Boss damage rolls. Shop cards offer protection, resource theft and other ways to affect the game.
Each turn proceeds through Trade, Activate and Draw. Players may negotiate trades with the active player, use eligible cards they already hold, and then choose a deck for their regular draw. A Shop card drawn for the turn may be purchased immediately or held for later. Some card effects replace the normal draw, and certain cards allow responses during another player's turn.
Optional expansion decks-including Arenas, Trinkets, Gadgets, Luxury and Disrupt-add cards and interactions to the Base Game. Players choose which expansion decks to include before play; expansions and Starter Mats are not required.
