Castle Combo: Out of the Oubliette! We finally secured the expansion pack. We grabbed one of the last copies at Millennium, hiked over to Waypoint, and cracked it open with a fruity sour in hand The base game is already a 3x3 staple, but this? This adds chaos.  Some cards are wildly asymmetrical. Some have three icons, some score a wild amount, some have vaults. Each card can be a fantastic addition to the tableau, and I hate seeing any of these cards  in anyone else’s 🙈 This expansion is the kind of mechanical frustration where you know you’re about to get hit for your own greed. Still the same snappy pacing. Still cursing the messenger and wishing for more let's and better luck Castle Combo from @PandasaurusGames #boardgames and @catch_up_games is tight, it's quick, and it's not mean (well it is after you school your wife and/or friends) and we are absolutely obsessed. Have you tried this one yet? Castle Combo is a  set collection and tile placement that plays 👥 2 to 5 players and takes about ⏳ ~10 mins per player The holiday Instagram hype got to me 😅 After seeing this all over my feed, I caved and voila! The game is a card game where you are drafting characters to build a 3x3 grid. Every card pairs with something else. Timing, placement, and luck absolutely matter! 🎮 HOW IT PLAYS On your turn, you grab one card from the market and add it to your castle. Simple, right? Except every character scores differently based on who they are next to, above, or below. You are constantly balancing short term points with future potential while watching someone steal the card you needed 1️⃣ Move the Messenger: you can only buy cards from the row the messenger is on. If you want the good card in the other row, you have to spend a 🔑 key to move him 2️⃣ Draft and Pay: pick your character and pay the gold cost. If you're broke, you can play a card face down as a village for resources 3️⃣ Build Your Grid: place your card in your 3x3 area 🏆 The game ends after the 9th round. Then score all your cards and left over keys. The person with the most points wins 🅿🆁🅾🆂 👩🏻‍🏫 Easy to teach 🚣🏻‍♀️ Plays well at every count 👜 Compact and travel friendly 🍀 Good mix of luck and strategy 🎢 Quick turns and snappy pacing 📈 High interaction without being mean 🧠 Combos that make your brain happy 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 Family friendly, anyone can play this! 🅲🅾🅽🆂🅸🅳🅴🆁🅰🆃🅸🅾🅽🆂 ⚠️ The iconography at first is daunting, but after one game it all makes sense 🚨 Even though it’s turn base, you have to pay attention during each turn 📉 Analysis paralysis will slow down this fast game 🅱🅾🆃🆃🅾🅼 🅻🅸🅽🅴 Castle Combo feels much bigger than it looks. It’s easy to teach and very hard to play just once. If your feed is also telling you to buy this, listen to it. It plays fast but never feels throwaway. The decisions are small but sharp. You can plan, but you also have to pivot A LOT!
