What is 20 Strong? 20 Strong, a deck-based game system from Chip Theory Games, can be played in about 30 minutes. It consists of simple, adaptable rules that can be applied to various unique decks, each with its own mechanics. Currently, 20 Strong is a solo-only game, but future decks may use the ruleset differently. The objective is to progress through a shuffled deck of cards, each with a unique challenge. Challenges can be enemies, scenarios, or requirements. Players earn successes by rolling a set of 17 dice with different odds for a hit, along with three adjustable stat dice, which make up the “20” in 20 Strong. If you roll enough successes, you complete a card’s challenge and gain its rewards. If not, you take damage and move on to the next card, unless your HP is reduced to 0, costing you the game. Completing an entire deck allows you to face the final boss and score enough hits to claim victory. Players must manage their dice wisely. In addition to HP, they track Strategy (which controls re-rolls and items) and Recovery (which controls how many dice return after a challenge). Rolling more dice than Recovery exhausts the pool, lowering the pool for subsequent challenges. It’s a game of luck, strategic decision-making, and resource management.
