In episode 1, Joe and I started the End of Empire campaign with a major defeat for the British in Palestine. For this second episode, we will go through the Malayan Emergency, a conflict that lasted more than a decade. Often described as Britain's Vietnam, the Malayan emergency started in 1948, opposing British colonial and Commonwealth forces to members of the Malayan Communist Party (MCP) and the Malayan National Liberation Army (MNLA). Malaya, now Malaysia and Singapore, became a British Colony in 1867. The British Way is a multipack of light COIN games covering four "emergencies" between 1945 and 1960, as they referred to their counterinsurgency campaigns, each trying to manage their retreat from Empire. The four games in this pack focus on exploring British counterinsurgent responses to various opponents, including communist insurgents in Malaya, militant nationalists in Kenya, and smaller and more clandestine terrorist organisations in Palestine and Cyprus.
