Watch “The Art Of the Umbral Rifts,” a how-to-play guide for Umbra Morfes from Antonio Lamat on BoardGameVideo.

Description provided by Antonio Lamat on YouTube:

Umbra Morphs is the Sci-Fi RPG Wargame you can print, laser cut, or 3D build at home. Love what you see? Don't miss the launch! Follow us on Kickstarter to be the first to get notified when the campaign goes live, and to secure exclusive Early Birds and backer rewards! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gomeznaq/umbra-morfes-print-n-play-rpg-miniature-terrain-war-game I want to show you how all the art for the Umbra Morfes project was created. As an artist and illustrator with over 15 years of professional experience, I combine traditional skill with modern tools." "I start with a sketch. From there, I focus on the core concept—like this space dragon emerging from the Umbral Rifts. This idea is then refined digitally: I define the color, light, and shadow, and create settings by blending and painting over landscape images like Mars and caves." "Finally, I blend my original painting with photos and textures generated with AI. Using masks and brushwork, I manually eliminate what I don't like and add the final artistic details, ensuring the result perfectly matches my vision before designing the final card layout." "It's crucial to note: the entire terrain and the Hidden Danger Cards were created solely through traditional digital illustration techniques, with no assistance technology. This project is a labor of love, developed since 2019, ensuring the lore and game design are entirely original." "I invite you to follow my work at @universo19 and our game venture @guarichaturanga. Your support is vital to bring this human-developed world to life! #UmbraMorphs #PrintAndPlay #Wargaming #3DPrinting #TabletopRPG #SciFi #LaserCut #ModularTerrain #Kickstarter #BoardGames #universo19 #guarichaturanga

About Umbra Morfes, from BoardGameGeek:

Umbra Morfes print and play is an innovative combination of role-playing game and wargame, with solo, cooperative, and arena modes where players can compete against each other, either in teams or one-on-one. Its unique terrain creation system, based on hexagonal tiles, allows players to design dynamic, customizable maps. Additionally, the game includes cards that grant new abilities to heroes, ensuring that each adventure is completely different. The board is made of terrain tiles with hexagonal shapes. You can create many maps for every campaign and enjoy different levels and configurations of the game. How it works? Create your terrain map, choose a character meeple, and place it on the space truck tile. You'll start with basic abilities, but as you defeat creatures and gain experience, you'll unlock new skills and improve your character's stats with better modifiers. Choose from six unique heroes, each fitting different playstyles. Whether you prefer dealing heavy damage, strategic ranged attacks, healing, or tanking OBJECTIVE: Defeat the creatures and control the zone. The mission of the Taa-Lu is to seal the umbral fissures, cracks that connect to Zimi's inner layers, where the Umbra Morfes reside. Only by doing so can they create an optimal ecosystem for life, ensuring water, air, and vegetation-elements that are deadly to the Umbra Morfes. The game ends without victory if your life ponits are -3 The game ends with victory if you complete all the objectives. SOLO MODE: Play as one hero at a time, upgrading their abilities to overcome increasingly difficult obstacles. The game continues until your hero dies or seals all the Umbra Fissures. You have a total of six heroes; if you lose them all, the game ends. COOPERATIVE MULTIPLAYER MODE: Team up with friends to battle the Umbra Morfes, with one player controlling the creatures. After each level, heroes participate in an auction where they use points earned from sealing Umbra Fissures and defeating monsters to buy randomized upgrades and new abilities. ARENA MODE: Challenge other players in intense one-on-one battles, where each player chooses a hero and fights until one defeats all three of their opponent's heroes. You can also play in team mode with 2v2 or 3v3 matchups for strategic, cooperative combat. The last team standing wins. CAMPAIGN MODE: This mode will only be available if the stretch goal is reached. It includes the canonical story from the Universe19 book and a unique new chapter for this game, detailing all the events within the Umbra Fissures and expanding the lore of this world. SURVIVAL MODE: Choose a hero and four Morphosis cards. Place at least three Umbral Rifts on the map. Defeat all monsters and bosses shuffled with the other cards to win. DICE SYSTEM: The gameplay system uses an innovative set of three dice (D4, D6, D8, D12, D20) to enhance attributes such as Force, Defense, Attack Range, Movement, and Amm power, a technological magic that becomes stronger with lower-value dice. You can only use three dice at a time, but certain situations allow you to switch between them based on your needs. Additionally, a percentage system with two D10s adds another layer of strategy and customization. -description from the designer
