About Battles of the Mexican American War: Monterrey & Buena Vista, from BoardGameGeek:

Game: A hex-and-counter wargame with 2 scenarios about the US-Mexican war. Both sides race to be the first to accumulate a scenario-specified number of VP, through a combination of occupying key locations and eliminating enemy units. The active player can use a limited pool of leadership points to boost movement, boost attacks combat, or rally troops during their own turn. Off turn, the non-active player can use a pool of artillery points to boost defensive combat or make long-ranged attacks. Publisher Descriptions: Battles of the Mexican American War presents 2 separate hex and counter war games from the American Revolution. The battles in this first volume are Buena Vista and NMonterrey. In early 2024, Worthington introduced this innovative box and board size to accommodate our players who wanted the feel of a high-quality board game with the convenience of a game they could take anywhere. We call them travel games because of the small footprint and price, but they are big on gameplay anyplace games are enjoyed. -description from the publisher
