Watch “Sometimes Co-op, Always Epic: Nemesis Retaliation Review,” a board game review for Nemesis: Retaliation from Tabletop Dungeon on BoardGameVideo.
Description provided by Tabletop Dungeon on YouTube:
Nemesis Retaliation is a brutal, cinematic semi-cooperative sci-fi dungeon crawler where the aliens aren’t the only thing trying to kill you. This is the third game in the Nemesis series, but trust me — you can jump straight in. No lore required, no homework. Just grab a character, pray to whatever gods you prefer, and start running.
You’ll stalk through dark corridors, make noise rolls that ruin your life, fight off dripping nightmare creatures, and argue with your so-called teammates about whether they’re actually helping or quietly ensuring you die so they can complete their private objective. Nemesis thrives on that tension. Every session becomes a story worth retelling, the kind of game you replay in your head at 3 AM thinking, “Did the bastard really shut off life support while I was still in there?”
I’m reviewing the Kickstarter edition here, with preshaded minis and a few extra character packs, but my playthroughs so far are almost entirely using core content. Even so, every single game has delivered massive cinematic moments, chaotic betrayals, impossible escapes, and those horrible noise rolls that summon death from the ceiling.
If you want a game that feels like Aliens meets a panic attack, with just enough cooperation to keep the station from exploding while you stab your friends in the back, Retaliation is absolutely worth your time.
